I've just come back from a fantastic few days away in Norfolk. One morning I got up before sunrise to go to the RSPB's Titchwell Marsh nature reserve. The light was magical and it was so so peaceful. I seemed to have the whole place to myself until the first few birdwatchers arrived around 7:30. This is a pair of black-tailed godwits I encountered at one of the saltmarsh pools. The low sun hitting the water created these dramatic silhouettes. I wanted to capture some of the symmetry between the two birds, so I spent a while waiting for them to strike a similar pose. You wouldn't believe how many shots I have of one or other of them sticking their head in the water or facing the wrong way! In other news: an exciting parcel arrived this week! Here's a first look at the proof of my 2021 calendar! I'm really happy with how it's turned out and can't wait for you to see it. I'll be sending out more information, including how to pre-order, soon.
