For me, snowdrops are always the first sign that winter is beginning to loosen its grip. Unlike many plants, they are able to survive the cold weather due to antifreeze proteins which stop ice crystals forming in their cells.
To take this picture, I crouched down and pointed my lens through an out-of-focus clump of snowdrops. The blurry flowers in the foreground created the magical textures you can see in this photo.
