This blog is an archive of all of the daily nature photos I have sent out via my newsletter.

I started this newsletter in March 2020; the idea was to help keep people's spirits up during the lockdown when they might not be able to get outside as much as they would like. I posted these photos on my facebook and instagram pages as well as sending them out by email, but I wanted everyone to be able to enjoy them - particularly the older generation who may not have social media.

I have now stopped sending daily photos, but I intend to continue sending a few out each week.

If you're interested, you can sign up to the newsletter here:

No. 57, 6th December: On the horizon

January 08, 2021  •  Leave a Comment
This curlew was incredibly well camouflaged against the speckled sand on this beach in Norfolk. Only by crouching down did its shape become discernible against the sky. I had to lie down and press myself as far as I could into the sand to isolate it completely against the blue. I love the simplicity of the shapes and the way the colours and texture...

No. 56, 26th November: Mother and fawns

January 08, 2021  •  Leave a Comment
This is another photo from the summer - this time a mother roe deer with her fawns. I love how you can only just see their faces poking up above the wheat! It's hard to tell in the photo but it was actually non-stop drizzling when I took this shot. I spent over an hour with them as they moved about the field, slowly edging closer on my hands and kn...

No. 55, 22nd November: River tree

Do you notice anything odd about this photo? It's actually a reflection of this tree turned upside down! I like playing around with reflections like this - I always think the water adds a beautiful dreamy texture to the photo. This was taken one morning in August. I like the way the clouds at the top of the photo frame the tree along with the fl...

An oldie but a goldie! I took this photo when I was 13, soon after I got my first DSLR and started getting really into photography. A few months later, this photo was highly commended in the British Wildlife Photography Awards, something which really inspired me to keep going with my photography. Ever since then, taking photos has been a fairly con...

No. 53, 10th November: September sunrise

January 08, 2021  •  Leave a Comment
I hope you're all keeping sane and safe this month. This is a photo from my camping trip to the Suffolk coast back in September. I feel like watching the sunrise is usually perceived to be quite a relaxing activity, but I find the first few moments before and after the sun appears to be very frantic! The light changes so quickly that you have to...

No. 52, 30th October: Autumn rain

January 08, 2021  •  Leave a Comment
It's been a very wet few weeks (at least here in Cambridge anyway)! I don't often attempt photography in the rain - for the obvious reason that it makes the camera wet! But last week I was feeling in need of some photography, and the rain didn't seem a good enough reason to stay inside. My eye was caught by some leaves drifting slowly down a wat...
